Bircher Muesli

A well-known European breakfast dish full of nutrition and flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup yogurt plain or flavored, according to your preference
  • 2 Tablespoons orange juice
  • juice of one lime or 1 Tablespoon lemon or lime juice from a bottle
  • 1 apple diced or shredded
  • 1 handful of red grapes halved or whole, according to preference
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts or nut of preference
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or pumpkin spice

Optional Ingredients for added nutrition and flavor

  • ground flaxseed
  • chia seeds
  • honey

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients until distributed evenly. Let the mixture rest for a few minutes to allow the oats to soak up the liquid.
  • Add more liquid or oats depending on desired consistency.
  • Top with additional cinnamon or hazelnuts according to preference. Serve in individual glasses or bowls as desired.

Notes

Note: Any of the ingredients can be substituted for a more desirable option according to personal preference, but this recipe is how I like it!
